Jetwing Kandy Gallery Review
In the year January 2020, a new property was added to the Jetwing chain. Yes, that’s right! We planned a trip to Jetwing Kandy Gallery, and it was right after we visited Water Garden Sigiriya. Was it worth the visit? You shall find out in this Jetwing Kandy Gallery review.
Our Love for Sudden Escapes
Since you are aware of our escapes, we always book the hotel right before our journey. So, we had to go to Jetwing Kandy Gallery on Friday, but we booked the hotel in the morning itself. Keep reading Jetwing Kandy Gallery Review to plan yours.
Ensuring Safety & Hygiene Post COVID-19 Outbreak
But, before going to the hotel, Nadika (the responsible husband) called the hotel and asked for early check-in. Well, there’s a reason why we ensure early check-in possibility. We did not want to check into a room which was already occupied by someone. After the outbreak of COVID-19, this is a precaution we take before going to hotels. Fair enough, right?
The Warm & Refreshing Welcome
The welcome was quite unique. We reached around 12:30 and booked the room on half-board basis.
Two girls from the staff welcomed us with a melodious song. Music to the ears – that’s what we needed at the start of the trip! A special traditional Sri Lankan drum was playing in the background.
We also got a private butler! Do you know what was really refreshing about the property? The majority of the women were given responsibility at this property. You will find many women working here. It shows how women are taking charge everywhere – they might just rule the world some day!
In fact, our private butler was a woman. Even most of the staff at the restaurant were women. So, we were happy to see this!
Moving on, we were super excited to see our room.
A Truly Surreal Experience
In total, there are four categories of rooms – deluxe, luxury, gallery, and kandyan suite. So, we opted for the Gallery Suite which has an outdoor Jacuzzi. It sounded dreamy, and we were enthralled by the pictures before entering the room.
The Jacuzzi is in the balcony, so you can’t really expect full privacy. You have to think about how you are behaving inside the Jacuzzi! Oh well!
The private balcony is a good feature, and the room is of decent size too. It houses all the luxurious amenities like air conditioner, mini bar, a 40 inch television, telephone, and electronic safe.
Reviewing the Food – REVEALED
Food was delicious, but the quantity was less.
We had to order more portions, and the staff mentioned they will be charging extra. However, they did not charge anything as the final bill was settled.
Maybe the property needs to work on the portion size. Some people have big appetites!
What’s there to explore?
Jetwing Kandy is not as large, so there are not many activities to explore. The pool was closed due to COVID-19 precautionary rules.
Most of the rooms have a view of Mahavelli River – the longest river in Sri Lanka. Some rooms have the view of Hunasgiriya Mountain Range. In fact, we could enjoy the view of the same from our balcony.
To sum it up, the experience was good. Yes, it is not as large as other hotels that Jetwing has to offer, but the experience was pleasant.
We hope that this review helped you to make a decision. If you liked it, do share it with your friends and family. Moreover, we would love to hear from you about your experience at Jetwing Kandy Gallery!
